Through personal loss, I decided to go back to school and earn a degree in safety. What was supposed to be an Associate's degree has ended up with me working on my doctoral program through Columbia Southern University. In 2013, we lost our youngest son to a workplace fatality involving fatigue. The news was devastating to our family. When Colton passed away, he had a son who was 11 days old, and that's the day things changed. In 2019, I had finally decided it was time, time for a change, time to make a difference. Going back to school was hard as I was 49 years old and hadn't been in school for years, and was I going to be able to do this? Being in the safety field has been very rewarding, and you never know what you are going to be doing tomorrow. I started in the construction field and have landed in manufacturing, and I love being at a distribution center. I am always learning something new and enjoy giving back to our team.
