BHDP Architecture

Organization Overview

BHDP began in 1937, when Cyrus Baxter formed his own
architectural firm in Cincinnati, OH to primarily handle design
work for his former employer, Cincinnati Milacron, who at the
time was the world’s largest manufacturer of machine tools.
Over the next seven years, a talented trio of architects, Jack
Hodell, Jim Donnelly and Jim Preston, joined Baxter; and in
1960, they formed Baxter, Hodell, Donnelly, and Preston, Inc.

Over time, the founders shortened the name to BHDP and
expanded the firm’s expertise from manufacturing and
workplace assignments for many of the region’s leading
companies to include other noteworthy projects in the
higher education, retail, and science markets.

Today, BHDP has assembled an enviable roster of nearly 200
talented architects, designers, and engineers working from
four offices – Cincinnati, OH, Columbus, OH, Raleigh, NC, and
Charlotte, NC – to engage with hundreds of well-respected
organizations around the world who turn to BHDP for
innovative space design solutions that effectively achieve
greater results.

BHDP is committed to the creation of best-in-class
manufacturing and material distribution facilities that
allow our clients to achieve breakthrough productivity,
cost, and speed to market goals. With effective client
engagement throughout the project, we establish a
shared understanding of key business drivers, operational
requirements, and organizational culture objectives. Our
integrated design process ensures the interaction of
people, operational work processes, and each functional
space are harmonized to create innovative design
solutions that bring our client’s goals to life.
