Cara began her career at Southwire in 2014 as a training specialist and served the company’s People & Culture team in a variety of roles including Talent Development Manager and Director of DEI and Workforce development before stepping into her current role as Director of DEI.
Cara’s sincere passion drives her leadership of Southwire’s efforts to foster an inclusive environment that recognizes the value and talent of diverse perspectives, while at the same time advancing leaders throughout the organization who can unleash sustainable business growth. In her role, she works to engage employees, partners, customers, and communities across all dimensions of diversity and focuses on listening, adapting, innovating, and ultimately supporting the company in making meaningful choices to reach its goals.
Cara received a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from the University of West Georgia and is a Certified Diversity Executive. Her efforts reach into the industry and her local community through her service in organizations like Women in Manufacturing, Society for Diversity, SHRM, Catalyst, Southwire’s Project GIFT, Circles West Georgia, Women’s Resource Center, Wounded Warrior Project and Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA).
Cara and her husband, Matt, reside in Carrollton, Georgia, with their two super-amazing children – BG (6) and Hayes (3). Outside of her professional and community commitments, Cara enjoys spending time with family, running, hiking, exploring new places and cheering on her favorite sports teams, including Atlanta United and the National Champion Georgia Bulldogs (Go Dawgs!)
